Case study
Challenge
W offshore oil field is facing production issues, such as formation heterogeneity and unbalanced recovery between layers and complex oil and water distribution, when oil field is stepping into middle and late development stage. With more reserves being recovered and water cut rising, it is more and more difficult to keep stable production annually.
Solution
In order to stabilize oil field production, OPT proposed a comprehensive liquid rate increasing solution by following the steps as below:
- • Analyze the feasibility and necessity of liquid rate increasing;
- • Understand the relationship between liquid rate increasing measure and formation factors, such as sedimentary environment, structure location and driving conditions by evaluating historical liquid rate increasing effects, as a means of offering reference for future implementation;
- • Forecast maximum liquid rate increasing potentials and feasible liquid rate increasing amount with respect to appropriate timing combined with analysis of liquid productivity index and water cut variation based upon liquid rate increasing potentials analysis for each single well
- • Build feasible liquid rate increasing scheme under present technical constraints;
- • Forecast maximum liquid rate increasing potentials for entire field based upon reservoir simulation results, thereby providing references for future surface engineering adjustment
- • Forecast the impact of liquid rate increasing amount on oil field development by performing sensitivity analysis of liquid rate increasing amount and timing
